I was born in Danville, Virginia, but I’m now based in the Washington, D.C. area.  I developed a passion for computers at an early age. That passion led me to a career in web development. I’m currently the Director of Digital Development and Operations at American Gastroenterological Association (AGA). In my role as director, I lead a 3 person development team in development and management of all of AGA’s digital applications.  In my role, I develop with Angular, React, Node, Firebase, AWS and WordPress.  We also use Git/Github as our code repository. WebStorm is my IDE of choice.  I’m also  the founder of Stizel Web Solutions, where I develop custom applications for clients.

I’m a fast learner. As a self-motivated psychology major in undergrad, I took the initiative to learn the entire array of web technologies I now know through books, screencasts, Stack Overflow, and Google. Most of my web development knowledge comes from books, podcasts and Udemy.com, where I’ve completed over 40 web development courses.  I’m always interested in learning new technologies. Independently, I learned multiple programming languages, including Angular, React, NodeJS, Ruby, Ruby on Rails and PHP while working professionally as a front-end developer.

I hold a high standard of quality in everything that I do, and I believe agile methodologies and test-driven development lead to better applications.
